Long Island’s Best is the only juried exhibition on Long Island that offers high school students the opportunity to show their art in a museum setting. Students in grades 9 through 12 are invited to create a work of art inspired by work shown in the museum.
Approximately 80 works of art are selected for exhibition. Prizes are awarded in numerous categories and are presented at the Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony. All exhibiting artists and their teachers receive full-color catalogues featuring all artwork in the exhibition.
Our field trip provides students the opportunity to view work in person and meet with educators at the museum for a presentation specifically regarding Long Island's Best. Students will then embark upon their own works of art inspired by those they saw at the museum in order for a chance to participate in the juried exhibition.

Be prepared by viewing restaurant menus ahead of time to determine what you would like to eat and how much you would like to spend.
Opened up by two brothers who just so happen to be Bellmore-Merrick CHSD graduates: Coleman & Jake Meier... this is one of Ms. A's favorite places as well. There was a nice article written about the opening of this restaurant that you can view here: https://www.ediblelongisland.com/2017/08/09/eat-poke-on-long-island/ "So what the heck is a poke bowl, anyway? Originating in the Hawaiian Islands, poke is raw, fresh fish sliced into cubes or bite-size pieces. A poke bowl combines the fish with a base (typically rice) and a slew of toppings. At Kai Poke, you can start with a base of white or brown rice, quinoa, or mixed greens. Next, you choose from six proteins including raw tuna and salmon, followed by unlimited toppings like cucumbers, mango, and edamame to name just a few. Your poke bowl can be finished off with a sauce of your choice." (Edible Long Island Magazine)
